Subsea Engineer

Job Purpose

The Subsea Engineer is pivotal in driving the company's mission in the subsea industry by spearheading the planning, engineering development, and execution of Diving and Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) operations. This role significantly contributes to the organisation by developing procedures and innovative subsea engineering solutions, ensuring the successful completion of projects, and securing new business opportunities. Without this position, the company would lack the expertise necessary to maintain its competitive edge and fulfill its operational goals

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and oversee comprehensive project plans, ensuring all Diving and ROV operations are executed efficiently and safely, meeting management specifications and industry standards.
  2. Develop and implement operational procedures and standards for the ROV division, including safety protocols, maintenance schedules, and performance metrics, ensuring that operations meet or exceed expectations.
  3. Ensure all projects adhere to safety, quality, and environmental standards, conducting technical studies and preparing detailed work procedures to guarantee compliance.
  4. Calculate time requirements, sequence project elements, and coordinate mobilisation activities to meet project timelines and objectives.
  5. Prepare detailed cost estimates and control project budgets, ensuring cost-efficiency and financial viability of projects.
  6. Provide specialist technical analysis and advice to management, playing a critical role in securing contracts and facilitating project success
  7. Contribute to tender reviews, budgeting, and strategic growth initiatives, providing insights for business development and competitive advantage.
  8. Oversee the implementation of a routine preventative maintenance/certification program for ROV systems, ensuring compliance with safety practices and legislation.
  9. Pioneer the development of new concepts for all subsea engineering aspects, utilising 3D drawing skills and advanced engineering knowledge to establish operational procedures and innovative solutions.
  10. Stay abreast of industry trends, technologies, and regulations affecting Diving and ROV operations and incorporate best practices into company operations to drive innovation and continuous improvement.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Job-Related Competencies

Educational Qualifications:

HNC/HND in Electrical/Mechanical/Electronic/Hydraulics Engineering or equivalent.

Experience Profile:

Minimum of 15 years in ROV operations within the offshore industry, including at least 2 years in a Managerial role. A proven track record in project management and engineering design, with specific experience in Subsea Diving and ROV operations.

Competencies/Skills/Others:

  • Comprehensive understanding of Subsea Operations and strong technical knowledge of ROV systems.
  • Excellent planning, organisation, and project management skills.
  • Strong leadership abilities with experience managing and motivating diverse teams.
