Demurrage Claims Analyst

Job Description

Petroplan is seeking a Demurrage Claims Analyst. The role involves managing claims and demurrage processes, liaising with Commercial, Trading, and Finance teams to ensure timely execution of all demurrage claims.
Responsibilities:

• Manage and file all demurrage claims for shipping and cargo.
• Check loading and discharge logs to identify demurrage cases.
• Submit demurrage claims to suppliers and receivers based on purchase and sale contracts.
• Review and counter claims from suppliers, receivers, and owners based on contracts or charter parties.
• Maintain data in the Bridge system and send payable and receivable notices.
• Assist contract and chartering teams with demurrage terms to enhance maritime and commercial awareness and minimize company exposure.
• Report overdue claims to the team leader and escalate to legal if necessary.
• Train and coach new team members in demurrage processes.
• Perform additional tasks as required by business needs.

Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

• Qualifications: Degree-level education or equivalent.
• Skills:
  • Strong planning, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication and teamwork skills, with a focus on action, accountability, and solution development.
  • Strong desire for personal learning and knowledge sharing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general IT literacy.
• Experience: 2-3 years of experience in demurrage or claims is preferable.
