Job Description

Petroplan is recruiting for a Director of Engineering on behalf of a reputable US-based LNG export company.


The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 15 years of experience in natural gas processing, liquefaction, and/or cryogenic processing. Additionally, this role requires a strong ability to leverage resources beyond their direct control to enhance established designs, optimize liquefaction cycles, and drive business results, while being comfortable with hands-on involvement.

This role will work closely with our clients Senior Vice President of Engineering and will be located in Louisiana.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the engineering support team for the terminal, including Process, Integrity, Controls, and Electrical Engineering.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of future projects aimed at boosting production, improving maintenance troubleshooting, minimizing production interruptions, and enhancing maintenance efficiency.
  • Direct and approve initiatives to maintain and improve plant equipment and facilities, focusing on reliability and corrosion control.
  • Ensure maintenance planning, scheduling, long-term certifications, inspections, condition monitoring, and major overhauls are effectively managed through subordinates.
  • Collaborate with internal and external engineering teams on operational projects and new developments from inception to completion, ensuring projects are delivered within budget and on schedule.
  • Ensure that financial targets are met by adhering to budget and schedule requirements.
  • Oversee the terminal's predictive maintenance program to ensure it is up to date and functioning properly.
  • Serve as the technical authority for engineering matters.
  • Prepare and issue weekly engineering reports for the site.
  • Lead weekly coordination and team meetings, maintaining an action register.
  • Act as the FERC engineering site contact.
  • Approve Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR).
  • Manage the completion of PHMSA IA technical inputs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.
  • At least 10 years of combined maintenance and plant engineering experience in LNG or petrochemical/gas facilities, including a minimum of three years in an engineering supervisory role.
  • Both corporate and field experience are highly valued, particularly experience in start-up, commissioning, or early field operations, as well as design engineering. Familiarity with project economic evaluations and business trade-offs to optimize shareholder returns is also desirable
  • Experience in LNG liquefaction facilities is highly preferred.
  • FERC experience is required.
  • Proven experience with implementing or overseeing a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of budgeting, planning, and scheduling.
  • Strong understanding of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) practices.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
