3D Model Manager

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic 3D Model Manager to oversee and enhance the quality and delivery of 3D digital models across all engineering disciplines. This role is pivotal in ensuring that digital models meet project standards and support successful project delivery. The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical expertise, leadership, and a passion for 3D modelling excellence, contributing to the continued development and efficiency of our engineering processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Setup and Model Management:

1. Initial Configuration:
   • Establish 3D model environments for new projects using systems like AVEVA E3D, AVEVA PDMS, and Intergraph Smart 3D.
   • Create and maintain project-specific templates, catalogs, and model libraries.
2. Model Functionality and Optimization:
   • Ensure all model features are fully functional and optimized for project requirements.
   • Validate the correct setup of attributes, scripts, and tools within the 3D model environment.
3. Auditing and Quality Control:
   • Conduct regular audits to verify the proper use and application of modelling tools.
   • Implement quality assurance measures to maintain model integrity throughout the project lifecycle.
4. Technical Support:
   • Address and resolve technical and application issues related to 3D modelling.
   • Provide expert guidance on troubleshooting and optimizing model performance.

  Training and Mentorship:

• Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs for project teams on 3D modelling tools and best practices.
• Create and maintain user guides and documentation for reference.

Model Utilization and Reporting:

1. 3D Model Best Practices:
   • Ensure consistent use of hierarchical structures and study areas within the model.
   • Oversee the proper extraction of 2D drawings, weight calculations, and center of gravity (CoG) data from 3D models.
2. Progress and Status Tracking:
   • Establish systems for effective progress and status reporting.
   • Ensure that correlation reports are set up and utilized for monitoring project advancement.

Modelling Standards and Coordination:

• Professional Execution:
  • Guarantee that modelling is performed to the highest standards, including:
    • Efficient and practical layout designs.
    • Proactive clash detection and avoidance.
    • Consistent use of tagging (TAG).
    • Alignment with Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and safety studies.
• Interdisciplinary Collaboration:
  • Facilitate smooth communication and collaboration among different engineering disciplines to maintain a harmonious modelling environment.
  • Promote adherence to project standards and reduce the risk of rework or clashes.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

• Technical Proficiency:
  • Extensive experience with industry-standard 3D modelling software such as AVEVA E3D, Intergraph Smart 3D.
  • Strong knowledge of digital engineering tools, workflows, and standards.

• Project Experience:
  • Proven track record in the setup, maintenance, and handover of complex 3D models.
  • Familiarity with the interdependencies between various engineering disciplines and the end-to-end project lifecycle.

• Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:
  • Ability to address complex technical issues and optimize model performance.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

• Communication and Leadership:
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to mentor and lead multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple projects effectively.
