Advisor, Legal (Assistant Manager Level)

Job Description

KEY OBJECTIVES

• Support the Head of Legal in reviewing agreements/contracts and in negotiations.
• Support the Head of Legal in where necessary.
• Support the Legal Manager in other matters including insurance matters, corporate secretarial, procurement technical clarification, procurement post-award issues, external relation and investor's relation matters where necessary.
• Provide risk assessment and legal impact of business decisions with regard to the Production Sharing Contracts (PSCs), Joint Operating Agreements (JOA) and other upstream agreements.
• Ensure that all agreements and contracts entered into by COMPANY are on the best possible terms for COMPANY.
• Ensure that the insurance policies are placed for all operating and general insurances where necessary.
• Manage outside counsel, insurance brokers, underwriters, corporate secretarial scope where necessary.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

• To ensure COMPANY's interests are protected in legal negotiations and in contracts.
• To ensure the Management Team is fully briefed on the legal implications of the terms of the agreements.

KEY AUTHORITIES

• Responsible for the review of PSC's, JOAs, contracts/agreements entered into by COMPANY.
• Responsible for presentations and communications with Petronas and partners and other stakeholders, where necessary.
• Responsible for insurance arrangements and corporate secretarial scope, where necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 10 years' experience (post admission to the Malaysian Bar).
• Must be analytical and able to work independently.
• A team player, communications and leadership skills.
• Possess good negotiation skills.
• Fluent in oral & written English.
• Experienced in oil and gas industry.
• Familiar with the Production Sharing Contracts, Joint Operating Agreements and upstream oil & gas operations agreements.
• Familiar with the Malaysian upstream oil & gas industry.
• Proven teamwork, communications, and leadership skills.
