Job Description

KEY OBJECTIVES

  • To champion COMPANY Malaysia asset integrity corrosion engineering and corrosion management efforts.
  • To actively manage all corrosion related activities for COMPANY Sabah and Sarawak Assets.
  • To embrace, practice, and encourage COMPANY Core Values (EP SPIRIT) and embed it into daily routines consistently.
  • To promote and inculcate "Target Zero" work culture to all direct reports, inspectors, and contractors.
  • Maintain a working level control of OPEX/CAPEX spend related to corrosion management, i.e., budget versus actual spend, with emphasis on cost consciousness.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be responsible and accountable in efforts related to corrosion engineering and corrosion management of COMPANY Malaysia Asset, related to asset integrity strategies, methodologies, processes and routine activities, such as:

Design Phase

  • Provide technical advice on corrosion related issues/matters during pre-FEED, FEED and Detailed Engineering:
    • Review and provide necessary input on corrosion design documents, i.e., CDBM, corrosion study and modelling, material selections, etc.

Operation Phase

  • Review documents relevant to corrosion management from field development design phase especially to understand the design intent for corrosion control and corrosion monitoring purposes.
  • Develop corrosion management activities for all facilities including topside pressure system, pipelines and subsea i.e., develop Corrosion Management Plans (CMP).
  • Provide technical advice on corrosion related issues including for:
    • Corrosion risk assessment activities
    • RBI (Risk Based Inspection)
    • Facilitate CMP updates.
    • Management of Change (MOC) or deviation
    • Failure investigations/laboratory material/corrosion testing/analysis.
    • Evaluation for Corrosion control i.e., chemical treatment, coating, etc.
  • Evaluate effectiveness and performance of the CMPs strategies based on cost efficiency, practicality, response actions, etc.
  • Establish corrosion monitoring program (IOW/ROW) for each facility:
    • Develop monitoring strategies i.e., parameters, method, monitoring strategies, response time required, etc.
    • Initiate implementation including establishing baseline trends for corrosion monitoring.
  • Review and analyze corrosion monitoring results together with inspection results to evaluate the efficiency of corrosion monitoring/prevention strategies.
  • Perform corrosion assessment/modelling for expected DMs using company approved methodology i.e., for CO2, H2S, O2 corrosion modelling.
  • Investigate, review and provide clarification to corrosion related matters such as impact of process changes to material degradation and DMs.
  • Maintain database/system for corrosion related issues.
  • Involve in failure investigation for corrosion related failures/ events.
  • Perform assessment and provide inputs/results for Asset Life Extension Study on corrosion related discipline especially for Pressure System, Pipelines and Subsea
  • Involve in Regulatory compliance activities i.e., DOSH and OSR (Offshore Self-Regulation) MS
  • Involve in Audit (External/internal) for corrosion related subject.
  • Involve in Anomalies Assessment to assess the fitness for service status.
  • Develop procedures related to Corrosion Management.
    • Corrosion Management System(s) - P2 CMP
  • Establish framework and data structure within COMPANY Corrosion monitoring software (P2 CMP).
  • Establish Monitoring rules in P2 Sentinel based on the monitoring strategies outlined in CMPs
  • Establish Dashboards and workspaces for visualizations in P2.
  • Establish communication matrix for P2 CMP notification for exceedances and cases.
  • Establish and Managing data flow to the system (liaison with Business Partners to get data from the routine/plan samplings)
  • Evaluate/Analyze exceedance events and exceedance cases.
  • Follow through the exceedance cases from investigation to find the causes, actions required up to results after actions to close the case.
  • Check and adjust P2 monitors to cater for false alarms, or to suit the latest operating conditions, etc.
  • Do monthly reporting for the monitoring results and status.
  • Communicate with Operations Supports to discuss issues/updates from the Corrosion system.
    • Provide recommendation and feedback from lesson learnt/experience from operation phase to improve strategy/design for corrosion control and monitoring.
    • Support the Pressure System & Structure Integrity Management team on analysis of degradation trends, performing failure analysis, fitness-for-service (FFS) and support for anomalies rectification.
    • Develop scope of work and estimate annual budget for related corrosion management and monitoring activities.
    • Be accountable for spend against agreed budget, and for delivering timely and accurate cost information.
    • Deliver internal reporting required by Head of Asset Integrity. Ensure this is accurate, relevant, timely and clearly identifies areas of significant risks to facilities production/operations.
    • Deliver external reporting (e.g., to PETRONAS, Corporate, DOSH and other authorities) as required by Head of Asset Integrity.
    • Manage activities of direct reports and contractors to achieve a standard of excellence in all areas related to corrosion management.
    • Promote and establish new technologies where appropriate. Collaborate with Joint Industry Consortia and partnerships to establish workplace innovation to manage corrosion.
    • Participate in all COMPANY SSHE programs such as safety meetings, safety engagement and workshops, training courses, etc. Provide relevant feedback to improve SSHE undertakings on managing corrosion.
    • Interface and coordinate with relevant stakeholders; discipline engineers, maintenance, operations, and safety team to conduct technical Integrity assessments and associated failure analysis to resolve complex issues related to corrosion.

WORKING RELATIONSHIP

  • Reports directly to the Head of Asset Integrity, while working as peer with other Asset Integrity functional Staff Engineer, Senior Engineers and Engineers, keeping them informed of progress/status, and providing pragmatic technical recommendations when and where necessary.
  • Provide corrosion engineering/management advisory support to other functional Section Heads and Department Heads for their individual areas of responsibility as requested by Head of Asset Integrity.
  • Directs activities of contractors responsible for corrosion monitoring related activities.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Materials Science and or Mechanical Engineering Bachelor's degree or equivalent, preferably with Honours.
  • Minimum of 10 years diversified & practical experience in Corrosion Engineering and Corrosion Management under Asset Integrity Management for oil and gas industry.
  • Professional engineering certification, experience and intimate working knowledge with international codes, standards, recommended practice such as ASME VIII, ASME B31.3, ASME PCC 2, API RP 510, API RP 570, API 598, API 579, API RP 583, API RP 571, API RP 2SIM, and any other professional certification related to Asset Integrity is a mandatory requirement.
  • Experience in offshore structure integrity management, i.e., Structure Asset Life Extension, anomaly management, inspection, etc. is an added advantage.
  • Experience in pressure equipment integrity management, i.e., risk-based inspection, fitness-for-service assessment, asset life extension, anomaly management, inspection, etc. is an added advantage.
  • Well experienced in conducting anomalies fitness-for-service analysis, root cause failure analysis/investigation, lab report analysis and reporting.
  • Setting and delivery of annual asset integrity goals, plans and key performance indicators (KPI).
  • Experienced in management of contractors, track record of project accomplishment including high level of safety performance, and leadership of action-focused teams.
  • Self-motivated, with positive and flexible work ethic. Willing to learn, train and develop multi-national work force and assist in mentoring and developing underperforming staff and contractors.
  • Effective, systematic, analytical, and results-oriented individual, with demonstrated ability to meet challenging targets.
  • Fluent in English language. Articulate speaker. Effective presentation and technical writing skills. Cross cultural experience, including mentoring and development of local workforce(s).
