Job Description

This role will increase support in the MRI Chemical Team to detect and mitigate H2S across company's Upstream & Midstream Operations in the Bakken. This role will also support other MRI Chemical Team projects as needed (such as flowline scale mitigation, downhole chemical treatments, freshwater system treatments, etc.) As initial H2S sources are identified and an effective treatment plan is established, focus for this role will shift to longer term Asset H2S strategy development and ongoing chemical treatment optimization. Both near-term action tracking and longer-term project planning / chemical optimization experience will be critical.

Roles & Responsibilities:
Chemical Engineer/Technician responsibilities will include:

  • Admin support of H2S testing schedule & results, including identifying emerging data trends
  • Monitoring H2S treatment equipment across the field through SCADA data, 3rd party cloud services, operations reports, and occasional field visits
  • Communicating with vendors on H2S treatment equipment and chemical sourcing, delivery, usage, etc.
  • Support creation and maintenance of a H2S Treatment dashboard including updating KPIs/metrics
  • Monitor/evaluate chemical injection efficiency across upstream & midstream injection points
  • Make recommendations for treatment changes throughout the system, update treatment standards with all changes
  • Attend H2S operating rhythm to stay aligned with key stakeholders
  • Support chemical pilots to improve on the current standard
  • Work with midstream process engineers to design, maintain, & optimize continuous chemical injection systems
  • Support metallurgy checks and soft material chemical compatibility tests needed for equipment decisions and injection design
  • Support chemical tech and operations with field troubleshooting for flow assurance issues such as pipeline solids analysis, compressor station fouling and failed equipment RCAs
  • Work with Asset Production Engineers to align on treatment economics and optimization priorities (deferred production, OPEX, Well Operator manhour needs, etc.)
  • Support MOCs and help communication for cross functional efforts
  • Support field assurance activities to ensure EHS standards are met for the construction and operation of chemical injection systems


For this position you will need:

  • Production chemical experience including but not limited to:
    • H2S treatment; Chemical delivery and logistics; Chemical injection trouble shooting and maintenance; Sample collection and analysis
  • Familiarity with Upstream & Midstream operations
  • Project management experience preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and implement improvements
  • Be a team player and show the ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment
  • Self-starter that can work with minimal supervision


QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5 years' experience in chemical program management, project management or midstream process engineering
  • Chemical vendor experience desirable
  • Experience with continuous chemical injection systems
  • A strong team player; ability to work in cross functional organization
  • Willing to develop computer skills such as Spotfire, Microsoft excel, and SAP
  • Preferred Education: Chemical Engineering Degree

Schedule / Physical Requirements:

  • Must have right to work in the US without need for visa sponsorship
  • Remote work available for the right candidate
  • Preferred to be North Dakota based and available to be in person at company's Minot, Tioga and Keene offices on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday as needed based on work scope and management engagement
  • Eligible to participate in company's 9/80 Schedule with every other Friday off
  • Field time: 40%; Office Time: 60%
