Job Title: Sr. Mechanical Engineer (Building Services)

Primary Purpose of the Job

Provide technical design and engineering services in Mechanical Engineering (Building Services) for all assigned engineering projects. Achieving the technical quality of work in accordance with procedures, whilst considering quality, schedule, cost and HSE.

Principal Accountabilities

  1. Conduct Mechanical Engineering (Building Services) activities and in-house site surveys for projects, from initial concept definition phase through to; engineering studies, FEED, detailed design and commissioning.
  2. Ensure the required technical assurance practices, engineering standards, environmental and safety policies are incorporated and followed, in work-scopes and whilst conducting Mechanical Engineering (Building Services)activities. Review technical deviations and variations to approved guidelines, codes, standards and practices.
  3. Support Engineering Department to review, update and apply standards and amendments to external standards.
  4. Plan and co-ordinate activities of a team of multidiscipline engineers for providing timely delivery of technical services to meet the project requirements.
  5. Co-ordinate engineering designs, develop and review multi-disciplinary workscopes for projects and other engineering activities. Ensure that the work-scope is comprehensive and clear.
  6. Review and approve method statements developed by contracted organisations for scope compliance. Liaise with contracted organisations to resolve technical issues.
  7. Develop, update and monitor schedules for in-house engineering activities, contribute to external FEED/EPIC scheduling activities and effective project delivery.
  8. Conduct evaluation of technical bid packages for scope compliance.
  9. Review and evaluate the Contract Changes/Variation to approved guidelines and practices
  10. Support the development of personal technical competency and skills and those of Co-workers. Participate in structured training for Associate Engineers

Decision Making Authority

  1. Review and approve technical deliverables with respect to quality, safety to the required standards
  2. Responsible for design, drawing and engineering documents
  3. Determine whether the technical deliverables produced by external organisations comply with the required scope and applicable standards
  4. Make recommendations for approval or rejection of technical deviations
  5. Make recommendations for approving change requests

Special Features/Challenges

  1. Ability to resolve technical challenges related to Mechanical Engineering (Building Services) work and adjacent discipline issues
  2. Provide assistance during construction and commissioning to resolve any technical issues arising
  3. Ability to coordinate with and promote teamwork amongst stakeholders, co-workers and external organizations

Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills / Experience

  1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering
  2. Chartered Engineer / Professional Engineer status or equivalent
  3. 10 years relevant experience, of which 6 years related to the Oil & Gas Industry
  4. Ability to identify and utilise relevant engineering standards and Codes related to Mechanical Engineering (Building Services)
  5. Proven ability to manage time, cost and quality in engineering projects within a multiple-project environment
