Position Summary
This role is responsible for supporting the integration of specialized environmental requirements within the construction framework of LNG projects. Responsibilities include interpreting environmental guidelines, applying scientific principles, and developing scopes of work and methodologies aligned with project objectives. This position may function as an assistant project environmental lead or environmental coordinator/inspector and requires flexibility in work hours, including extended shifts, weekends, or night shifts as needed.


Responsibilities

  • Provide environmental expertise to engineering, construction, and subcontract teams, ensuring environmental considerations are incorporated into project planning, design criteria, and construction plans.
  • Participate in meetings with clients, project team members, and contractors/subcontractors to communicate environmental requirements that may impact design, schedule, or cost.
  • Draft Environmental Compliance Plans, Construction Environmental Control Plan (CECP), and specific mitigation plans (e.g., Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan, Spill Prevention and Control Plan).
  • Conduct compliance inspections of construction activities to ensure adherence to environmental requirements, permits, CECP, and mitigation plans.
  • Address environmental non-conformances promptly, ensuring appropriate measures are implemented.
  • Lead or support investigations of near misses and incidents.
  • Coordinate technical and scientific environmental matters with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors, integrating environmental functions into project plans.
  • Maintain communication with regulatory and resource agencies to stay informed of regulatory updates and technical standards.
  • Engage with other environmental specialists and industry contacts to keep current with advancements in environmental planning, mitigation, and compliance.


Qualifications & Skills
Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline (e.g., biology, meteorology, forestry, archaeology) or environmental/civil engineering, with relevant practical experience; or equivalent demonstrated experience.
  • Knowledge of environmental management, monitoring, and mitigation related to large industrial or heavy civil construction projects.
  • Experience with environmental compliance inspection and monitoring during construction.


Additional Qualifications

  • Expertise in a scientific or engineering field (e.g., ecology, wetlands, civil, environmental).
  • Understanding of environmental laws, regulations, and permitting processes.
  • Knowledge of engineering, construction, and subcontract work processes.
  • Proficiency in communication, both oral and written, and familiarity with computer applications.


Additional Information
This role includes field inspections and requires physical ability to navigate construction sites, including climbing ladders, scaffolding, and working in confined spaces. The role requires proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as harnesses, life vests, and lift buckets. Flexibility in scheduling, including night or split shifts, may be required.

Per diem: $102/day
