Senior Staff Reservoir Engineer – GOM

Overview:
Our Houston based Exploration and Production client is currently sourcing an experienced Senior Staff Reservoir Engineer their growing Deepwater asset development team. This role is essential in driving reservoir management strategies, maximizing production and profitability, and supporting the company’s Gulf of Mexico exploration and development programs.

Responsibilities:
Reservoir Management:
  • Lead reservoir operations and optimization strategies to ensure maximum economic recovery.
  • Monitor and manage reservoir performance in line with production targets and long-term field development goals.
Technical & Strategic Evaluations:
  • Conduct in-depth technical assessments and simulation modeling for oil and gas fields.
  • Apply 3D seismic interpretation and static modeling to support development plans.
  • Implement innovative strategies for reservoir optimization and performance enhancement.
Project Leadership:
  • Lead and manage cross-functional projects including new field developments and reserve estimates.
  • Oversee project budgets, timelines, and resource allocation to achieve operational excellence.
Data Analysis & Problem Solving:
  • Analyze production and reservoir data to identify issues, forecast performance, and design interventions.
  • Collaborate with subsurface and surface teams to assess and resolve reservoir-related challenges.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Work closely with geologists, geophysicists, drilling engineers, and commercial teams.
  • Contribute to business planning through reserve reporting, risk assessments, and economic evaluations.
Innovation & Communication:
  • Identify new technologies and methodologies to improve field development.
  • Clearly communicate technical findings and business impacts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years in reservoir engineering with a strong track record in upstream E&P operations.
  • Strong experience with Gulf of Mexico or Deepwater operations.
  • Proficiency in reservoir modeling, simulation, and production forecasting tools.
  • Expertise in unconventional reservoir development is a plus.
  • Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional team environments.
  • Strong business acumen with an understanding of how reservoir decisions impact financial outcomes.
