Job Description

Petroplan is recruiting for a seasoned Systems Engineer to ensure the optimal performance of our LNG clients software supporting vessel operations. This position requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams and vendors to address issues, improve applications, and keep them updated.

The ideal candidate should have experience in providing application support in a fast-paced environment, preferably within the Maritime or a related industry.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of IT application experience, preferably in the Maritime industry, with strong technical knowledge of tools and technologies supporting vessel and crew activities.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of hands-on experience supporting SaaS applications and cloud environments (Azure or AWS).
  • Strong organizational and collaboration skills.
  • Experience supporting multiple applications.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Sound knowledge of various operating systems and databases.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate and clearly communicate cross-functionally.
  • Proven experience in engineering and software architecture design.
  • Hands-on experience implementing simultaneous projects.
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills, resilient under pressure, able to meet deadlines, and capable of working in a constantly changing environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer applications, including user role provisioning, following security guidelines and organizational best practices.
  • Identify process gaps through effective collaboration with business units, participate in requirement gathering, capture requirements for enhancements or new developments, and translate them into functional and technical specifications.
  • Support unit testing, regression testing, and user acceptance testing, ensuring that test results are well-documented.
  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration between business units and vendors, supporting the application end-to-end throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Innovate and go beyond assigned responsibilities to ensure best-in-class processes across applications.
  • Understand and apply industry-related processes for ship management and ownership.
  • Participate in master data governance and ensure alignment across related applications.
  • Monitor and govern integrations across assigned applications.
  • Oversee the integration of systems and data from vessel systems to corporate IT systems.
  • Triage and resolve integration issues as they arise.
  • Support the business with production issues, ensuring systems remain online.
  • Liaise with vendors on application version enhancements, patches, and compliance with patching policies.
  • Write application-specific administration SOPs.
  • Lead or participate in the design and development of complex software applications.
  • Provide technical insights and recommendations to ensure applications are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with long-term organizational goals.
  • Investigate and resolve complex technical issues and system outages.
  • Exhibit strong security and confidentiality practices with systems handling sensitive data.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of application architectures, configurations, and processes.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
