Volunteering in Houston

Helping feed Houston with the Food Bank

Last week, Petroplan’s Houston team dedicated their time to volunteer at the Houston Food Bank, reaffirming the organization’s ongoing commitment to community engagement and social responsibility.

This initiative was part of the company’s broader efforts to support local communities and foster team unity.

During their volunteer session, Petroplan employees assisted in various tasks, including sorting, inspecting, and repackaging donated food items. These activities are crucial to the Food Bank’s missionof distributing meals to families in need across the Greater Houston area. The team’s efforts contributed to the Food Bank’s goal of producing the equivalent of a meal a minute, highlighting the significant impact that volunteer work can have on addressing food insecurity.

Craig McConochie, Petroplan’s Regional Director for the U.S., emphasized the dual benefits of such volunteer activities, stating, “This kind of service project is great for team building as well as helping Houston families in need.” His remarks underscore the importance of corporate involvement in community service, not only for the positive outcomes it brings to the community but also for strengthening internal team dynamics.

The volunteer event coincided with the Houston Food Bank’s Volunteer Appreciation Week, held from April 14 to April 19, 2025. This week-long celebration recognized the invaluable contributions of volunteers, featuring themed days and specialevents to honor their dedication.

Petroplan’s participation in this initiative reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to social responsibility and community involvement. By engaging in volunteer work, Petroplan not only supports vital community services but also promotes a culture of empathy and collaboration within its organization.
